Learn from us about democracy

I have learned that an Italian procecutor wants to shut a newspaper down.

Most have heard of the young Amanda Knox jailed in Italy for a murder. It has been a case which seems like it is a kind of revenge for US service men shooting an Italian spy by mistake in Iraq. CBS did their own investigation and there was no case.

It seems that news about this investigation and comments about how competent the procecutor and not at least the mental state of this person reached Italy and now the procecutor wants to shut the newspaper down.

Well, in Denmark we are used to such statements. Normally they are sent from states with a large amount of terrorists living in them and while Italy certainly had its share of freedom fighters wanting to loosing the German speaking minority in the north from Italy, I believed that they had killed them all of.

However, during the cartoon crisis our government did make it very clear that a democracy has to protect the freedom of the press. If it dont, it is the end of democracy. It is not to be discussed.

We all know that she is being framed. We also know that the state of Italy has to give her a verdict of guilty so they don’t loose credibility. There are simply too much at stake for them. Don’t even remote mention a fair trial in case. We are talking of a generel position against the concept of exchange students in general.

Like the citizens of Italy we in Denmark are also tired of exchange students. They are freeloaders taking seats from our youth. They are always complaining. In Denmark we had a lot of problems with Chinese exchange students in Roskilde. The Danish student environment are very superior to most countries, but it demands that you maintain a certain amount of self-discipline. None are there to tell you how to study or what to do. We don’t believe in egoists. We believe in people working together for a common cause like it is done in project in our industry. But exchange students coming from countries where youth are not allowed to socialize with alcohol outside the workhours end up lonely on a Danish campus. I can assure you that 100%.

Back to the procecutors case against the American newspaper. I urge the US citizens to approach their local politician and ask for a categorically rejection of this demand made by the central administration and properly also freezing of Italian assets on US soil just to give a message to Italy how a civilized state has to respect the freedom of the press.
